Runner Spotlight: Jane’s Journey to Her First Marathon
🏃♀️ Meet Jane, One of Our Dedicated Club Runners!
For the past six months, Jane has been waking up before sunrise, lacing up her running shoes, and hitting the pavement with one goal in mind: completing her first marathon. As race day approaches, we caught up with her to hear about her training journey, challenges, and what keeps her motivated.
Why I Decided to Run a Marathon
"I've always been a casual runner, but I never considered myself a 'serious' athlete. Last year, I watched the NYC Marathon and was so inspired by the energy, the crowd, and the incredible runners of all levels pushing themselves. That’s when I decided: I want to be one of them."
My Training Plan: The Highs and Lows
Jane started her marathon prep with a 16-week training plan, gradually increasing her mileage while balancing strength training and recovery.
✅ Favorite Workout: "Long Sunday runs with the club—having company makes all the difference!"
❌ Biggest Challenge: "Injury setbacks. I had some shin splints early on, so I had to be patient and focus on recovery."
⭐ Proudest Moment So Far: "Running my first 18-miler and actually feeling strong at the end!"
Race Day Goals
"I’m not aiming for a specific time—my main goal is to finish strong and enjoy every moment. I want to soak in the crowd, high-five spectators, and remind myself why I fell in love with running in the first place."
Advice for Other Runners
"If you’re thinking about running a marathon, just start. Join a group, find a training plan, and take it one step at a time. The progress might feel slow, but trust me, when you cross that finish line, it’s all worth it!"
